چکیده

Subclavian artery (SCA) injuries associated with central venous catheter (CVC) insertion are uncommon yet lethal complications that typically require surgical treatment. This case report presents the of a 94-year-old man an iatrogenic right SCA injury resulting from misplaced CVC. Computed tomography revealed piercing internal jugular vein to enter and then reaching aortic arch. Emergent endovascular treatment was performed, 13-mm × 50-mm self-expanding Viabahn stent graft (W.L. Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, AZ, USA) placed via brachial artery. The successfully removed under simultaneous postdeployment balloon dilatation. highlights utility for caused by CVC some insights tips safer procedure.

Acute infection of Viabahn stent graft in the popliteal artery

Peripheral stents are increasingly used for treatment of peripheral arterial disease, yet all implanted devices are potentially at risk for infection. We describe a 51-year-old man who underwent stenting in the femoropopliteal artery and presented 3 days later with leg pain, fever, and evidence of peripheral stigmata of embolization. Blood cultures grew methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aure...

Misplaced subclavian central venous catheter

Percutaneous Central Venous Catheter (CVC) insertion using internal jugular and Subclavian veins routes is common procedure for all intensive care admitted patients and some patients in the ward as demand arises in central and referral hospitals of Botswana. This is a case report of a patient on whom a third attempt of re-inserting a CVC for fluid and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) was made. ...

An unusual route taken by a central venous catheter resulting in inadvertent subclavian artery cannulation: a case report

Ultrasound-guided cannulation of a central venous catheter into the internal jugular vein (IJV) was performed in the intensive care unit for a critically ill patient. The catheter was inserted into the subclavian artery distally, despite prior ultrasound confirmation of the guidewire position using both the in-plane and out-of-plane views. The catheter was removed successfully by the interventi...

Percutaneous subclavian artery stent-graft placement following failed ultrasound guided subclavian venous access

BACKGROUND Ultrasound guidance for central and peripheral venous access has been proven to improve success rates and reduce complications of venous cannulation. Appropriately trained and experienced operators add significantly to diminished patient morbidity related to venous access procedures. We discuss a patient who required an arterial stent-graft to prevent arterial hemorrhage following in...
